DMCC has joined forces with Dubai Police to deploy an innovative Drone Box system across Uptown Dubai and Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT), enhancing security and situational awareness in one of Dubai’s key business districts.
This marks the first time the advanced drone technology is being used to monitor high-rise buildings, setting a new benchmark for urban safety.
Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and CEO of DMCC, highlighted the significance of this partnership, stating,
“The Drone Box system represents one of the world’s most advanced technologies, playing a vital role in enhancing public safety. Its deployment in JLT and Uptown Dubai demonstrates our commitment to creating smart, secure, and innovative urban living experiences.”
The initiative, spearheaded by Dubai Police’s Unmanned Aerial Systems Centre, underscores the emirate’s dedication to integrating smart technology for public safety. Captain Mohammed Omar Almuhairi emphasized the drones' role in reducing emergency response times and providing critical data for decision-making. “Together with DMCC, we aim to leverage these aerial capabilities to enhance safety in one of the world’s fastest-growing business hubs,” he said.
Developed by Ondas Autonomous Systems and certified by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Drone Box system operates beyond visual line-of-sight, ensuring rapid response and efficient monitoring of densely populated areas.
First unveiled by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in 2021, the initiative reinforces Dubai’s global leadership in smart city innovations, setting a new standard for safety in high-rise environments.
