Dubai’s DMCC has reported a nearly 10% increase in Italian companies joining its free zone over the past year, bringing the total to more than 530.
The growth coincides with DMCC’s recent Made For Trade Live roadshow in Naples and Palermo, aimed at boosting business connectivity between Dubai and Southern Italy.
The roadshow gathered over 260 Italian business leaders and showcased Dubai’s position as a global trade and innovation hub. Participants learned how DMCC supports companies in establishing operations and linking seamlessly into international value chains.
The announcement comes amid rising UAE-Italy non-oil trade, which exceeded USD 14 billion in 2024, marking a growth of more than 20% compared to the previous year. DMCC sees strong potential for collaboration in strategic sectors such as agri-food, coffee, precious metals and stones, and energy.
Ahmed Bin Sulayem, DMCC’s Executive Chairman and CEO, highlighted the synergies between Dubai and Southern Italy, noting the regions’ strategic ports, global industries, and opportunities for high-value trade.
“With over 500 Italian businesses now operating successfully from DMCC, we remain committed to being the hub for Italian companies to set up, scale, and connect to global markets,”
he said.
The roadshows were organized in partnership with prominent Italian and regional trade bodies, including the Naples Chamber of Commerce and the Department of Economic Activities for the Sicilian Region. DMCC, with nearly 26,000 member companies, contributes 7% of Dubai’s GDP and accounts for 15% of its annual foreign direct investment, reinforcing its role as a gateway for international business expansion.
