Orlando International Airport (MCO) is now home to dnata’s groundbreaking “Station of Tomorrow,” a state-of-the-art facility designed to revolutionize ground handling operations.
The initiative, launched by the global air and travel services provider, integrates cutting-edge technologies to enhance efficiency, safety, and environmental sustainability while improving the passenger experience.
The project is set to generate 50 new jobs in Orlando, contributing to the local economy and strengthening the aviation sector. dnata’s partners in this milestone include Lufthansa Group, Oshkosh AeroTech, Evitado Technologies, and AVIAR, all playing a vital role in the initiative's success.
David Barker, Regional CEO for Americas at dnata, highlighted the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, stating,
“This initiative aligns with our vision to implement scalable solutions that enhance operational performance, safety, and service quality for our airline partners.”
He also emphasized plans to expand this model across dnata’s 22 locations in the U.S.
Jörg Mnich, Vice President of Commercial Airport Agreements at Lufthansa Group, praised the initiative, noting its role in advancing technology and safety. Meanwhile, Discover Airlines’ Lars Michael Wendel expressed enthusiasm for the station’s eco-friendly electric ground support equipment (E-GSE) and anti-collision systems, which promote both sustainability and safety.
Key features of the “Station of Tomorrow” include an all-electric fleet, digital passenger services, an AI-powered resource management system, and virtual reality training. The integration of telematics and vision AI ensures real-time monitoring, optimizing efficiency and safety in ground operations.
With this launch, dnata continues to solidify its position as a leader in air services, handling 48,000 flights and 200,000 tons of cargo annually across the U.S. The “Station of Tomorrow” represents a major step toward a smarter, more sustainable future for airport operations.
