dnata, a leading global air and travel services provider, has been honored with the Aviation Sustainability & Environment accolade at the Aviation Industry Awards UK.

This recognition underscores the company’s commitment to enhancing environmental efficiency across its Airport Operations, Travel, and Catering & Retail business units.

The Aviation Industry Awards celebrate the most innovative contributors to the UK's aviation sector. Stewart Angus, dnata’s Regional CEO for Europe, expressed pride in accepting the award, stating,

“We are incredibly proud to receive this prestigious award, especially in such an important category. Being selected from a shortlist of leading aviation companies shows the real impact our teams are making through their hard work and dedication in reducing our environmental footprint.”

In the financial year 2023-24, dnata reported notable reductions in carbon intensity, achieving decreases of over 8% in airport operations and 22% and 26% in its travel and catering sectors, respectively, validated by Verifavia.

Investing in renewable energy is key to dnata’s sustainability strategy. The company uses solar and wind energy in markets like the UK and Ireland, and it has installed solar panels in Pakistan and the Philippines. Furthermore, dnata is phasing out diesel engines, with 65% of its fleet in the Netherlands now electric.

By engaging with biofuel suppliers, dnata has replaced over 674,000 liters of diesel with hydrotreated vegetable oil at Schiphol Airport and transitioned its entire non-electric fleet at Dubai airports to biodiesel. The company also implements waste reduction initiatives, such as optimizing food loading for in-flight catering to minimize waste and fuel consumption.
