DP World is set to develop a cutting-edge cold storage facility in Egypt with an investment of USD 29 million (around EGP 1.42 billion), reinforcing the country’s logistics and trade infrastructure.
The project comes amid growing local and global demand for energy-efficient storage solutions, particularly in agri-exports and frozen food manufacturing.
The new facility will span 16,194 square meters within Elsewedy Industrial Development Park in Al Oula Industrial City. It will feature eight independently controlled chambers with a combined capacity of 25,000 pallet positions for chilled and frozen products, including fruits, vegetables, dairy, and processed foods. An advanced refrigeration system will ensure precise climate control while meeting international energy-efficiency standards.
Mohammad Shihab, CEO of DP World Egypt and Executive Vice President of North Africa, described the project as a milestone for Egypt’s logistics ecosystem. He noted that the facility, alongside the upcoming Sokhna Logistics Park, will enable exporters and manufacturers to expand their reach, enhance operational efficiency, and seize new growth opportunities.
Owned and operated by DP World, the facility will integrate a Warehouse Management System offering real-time inventory tracking and seamless client connectivity. Its strategic location provides direct access to Greater Cairo, national highways, and major export routes, supporting both domestic distribution and international shipping.
The development is part of DP World’s broader investment strategy in Egypt, including the Port of Ain Sokhna and third-party contract logistics. The project aims to strengthen the country’s cold chain infrastructure, safeguard food quality, reduce waste, and enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian exporters in global markets.
By combining advanced technology, strategic location, and integrated logistics capabilities, DP World is positioning Egypt as a vital hub for trade while supporting the national economy and fostering new growth opportunities for local industries.
