Dubai has taken a significant step toward future-ready education with the launch of a multi-year initiative to embed artificial intelligence literacy across private schools, aiming to equip tens of thousands of students and teachers with essential AI knowledge and skills.

DP World Foundation, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Responsible AI for Social Empowerment and Education (MIT RAISE) have announced a collaboration running until February 2030 to scale responsible AI education for students in Grades 6 to 8. The programme is expected to reach around 80,500 students and support approximately 3,600 teachers through a phased rollout.

The initiative will begin with co-design sessions involving educators from selected schools, followed by classroom pilots and targeted teacher training. Lessons learned will inform a wider expansion across Dubai’s private school network.

The programme introduces short, practical AI modules integrated into six subjects: Math, Science, Computing, Art, English, and Arabic. Students will learn how AI systems function, how to critically evaluate AI-generated outputs, and how to use AI tools responsibly in everyday classroom work.

Teachers will receive classroom-ready resources, professional development, and access to a supervised portal of age-appropriate AI tools, alongside implementation guidance and assessment support.

Leaders from DP World, KHDA, and MIT RAISE highlighted that the initiative aligns with Dubai’s Education 33 vision and the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which prioritise talent development, innovation, and future-ready skills.

The collaboration also includes an AI enrichment programme for high school students, offering a hybrid model of online and in-person learning with mentorship, team projects, and entrepreneurial-style presentations during school breaks.

Together, the partners aim to build a strong foundation for responsible AI understanding and empower Dubai’s next generation to engage confidently with emerging technologies.
