DP World today launched the inaugural phase of its ‘National Talent Development Programme 2023’ (20Xel), aimed at training and developing the next generation of Emirati leaders in trade, logistics and supply chain management.
The 20Xel National Talent Development Programme 2023 is the cornerstone of DP World’s Emiratisation efforts. DP World is committed to attracting and nurturing Emirati talent, and this programme is key to that goal. The programme aims to foster a culture of dedication and team spirit while also encouraging innovation in a key sector.
The programme focuses on key topics, including future skills in trade, logistics and supply chains -- to develop theoretical and practical expertise for successful careers in a technology-based world.
The programme is open to Emirati graduates from all disciplines. Participants will receive an international supply chain management diploma from the prestigious Rotterdam School of Management, as well as hands-on training and guidance from experienced DP World mentors.
Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, said:
"We are delighted to launch registration for Emirati graduates in our 20Xel Programme 2023 to develop their career with us. The principles that govern this exceptional programme stem from the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. This comprehensive vision is founded on a steadfast commitment to excellence and creativity, fostering an enlightened model for progress. Our primary objective is to actively contribute to maintaining Dubai's leading position as a global investment destination, transcending its previous role as a regional economic hub".
He added:
"Central to this vision is the unwavering focus on nurturing Emiratis and promoting sustainable development. We wholeheartedly invest in the knowledge economy and in the remarkable talents of our Emirati youth. Through 20Xel, we seek to empower and cultivate a pool of exceptional leaders who will play instrumental roles in shaping the future, continuing prosperity, and ushering in a new era of growth."
The programme consists of four stages: foundational, operational, developmental, and leadership. Participants can obtain an international supply chain management diploma from the prestigious Rotterdam School of Management. Hands-on training and guidance from experienced colleagues enrich the learning experience. Recently, a batch of 6 female and 11 male graduates, successfully attained their Diplomas in Supply Chain Management. The programme included virtual sessions and real-time visits to ports and logistics centers, providing valuable insights for their future leadership roles.
In addition to the National Talent Development Programme 2023, DP World has several other programmes dedicated to supporting the aspirations of the UAE's youth. These include the "Forsa Vocational Training" programme and the "Ruwad" training programme, are both aimed at nurturing sector leaders across various business units. The "Ta'heel" programme offers scholarships for Emirati students throughout their academic journey, culminating in employment opportunities within the group upon graduation. Additionally, the "Bidaya" summer programme acquaints secondary and university-level Emirati students with job prospects in Jebel Ali Port and the Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza).
DP World not only plays a significant role in Dubai and the UAE, but with a presence in 73 countries on six continents, handles around 10% of global containerized trade. It’s growth since the Group was founded in 2005 has allowed DP World to become a robust Emirati brand, and a testament to Dubai's position as a thriving hub for trade, logistics, and tourism.
