DP World has joined forces with Parkin to introduce a smart parking system at Dubai’s Al Aweer Central Fruit and Vegetable Market, aiming to enhance efficiency at one of the region’s busiest food trading hubs. The system will manage about 2,500 parking spaces for light vehicles and 500 for trucks.

The fully automated solution will use license plate recognition and real-time data to offer barrier-free access, easing congestion and improving the flow of goods for traders and supply chain operators. The initiative aligns with Dubai’s Smart City agenda and supports plans to transform Al Aweer into the world’s largest integrated food trading and logistics centre.

Abdulla Bin Damithan, CEO and Managing Director of DP World GCC, said the partnership reflects DP World’s commitment to optimizing every stage of the supply chain.

“In the perishables trade, every second counts,”

he said, noting that the project will make operations “faster, smarter and more seamless.”

Eng. Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali, CEO of Parkin, highlighted that the collaboration brings advanced, technology-driven parking solutions to one of Dubai’s key commercial locations. He said the barrierless system will reduce congestion, improve traffic flow and ensure better use of parking spaces, directly benefiting traders, logistics providers and daily visitors.

The partnership builds on last year’s agreement between Dubai Municipality and DP World to develop the world’s largest logistics hub for trading foodstuffs, fruits and vegetables, aiming to double the size of Dubai’s existing market and strengthen its connection to global supply networks.
