DP World Partners with SailGP to Revolutionize Global Logistics
DP World has announced a groundbreaking three-year partnership with SailGP, positioning itself as the Global Smart Logistics Partner for the high-profile global racing championship.
The collaboration aims to streamline logistics for SailGP's annual calendar of events, ensuring seamless transport and delivery across five continents.
Leveraging its expansive network of 115,000 employees in 78 countries, DP World will oversee end-to-end logistics, managing sea freight, courier services, and route optimization. The company’s regional operations will provide on-ground support during race weekends, while a dedicated Control Tower Team in the UAE offers 24/7 global oversight. A key focus of the partnership is sustainability, with DP World prioritizing carbon-neutral logistics and low-carbon transport while providing race-by-race carbon tracking.
The partnership also includes the intricate task of transporting SailGP's signature F50 catamarans. These high-performance boats are disassembled, packed into custom containers for sea freight, and reconstructed at race locations. Alongside the catamarans, essential supplies like team boats, broadcast equipment, and racecourse infrastructure will be transported.
Highlighting its expertise in sports logistics, DP World has previously supported events such as the Ryder Cup and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
DP World Chief Communications Officer Daniel van Otterdijk expressed excitement about the partnership, emphasizing the company’s commitment to delivering smarter, sustainable logistics solutions. SailGP Managing Director Andrew Thompson praised DP World’s capabilities, citing the complexity of managing global race logistics.
The partnership kicks off this weekend with the Emirates Dubai Sail Grand Prix at Mina Rashid, hosted by DP World’s subsidiary, P&O Marinas. This season opener will feature a record 11 national teams competing in the waters of Dubai on November 23-24, 2024.
