DP World has marked a significant milestone with the arrival of the first vessel under the landmark Gemini Cooperation, a strategic alliance between Hapag-Lloyd and Maersk aimed at enhancing global trade connectivity.
On 5th February, the MV Houston Express, a 15,000 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) containership, docked at Jebel Ali Port as part of the Indian Ocean Service. This development strengthens trade links between the Indian Subcontinent, the Middle East, and North and South Europe.
To commemorate the occasion, DP World and Hapag-Lloyd senior management hosted a special reception, highlighting Jebel Ali Port’s role as a critical global supply chain hub.
The Gemini Cooperation, designed to create a highly efficient ocean freight network, operates 57 mainliner and shuttle services with around 340 modern vessels, many transitioning to cleaner fuels.
Shahab Al Jassmi, Senior Vice President, Ports & Terminals Commercial, DP World GCC, emphasized the significance of this milestone.

Christiaan Goeman Borgesius, Senior Director Operations Region Middle East, Hapag-Lloyd, expressed excitement over the achievement.
