Drydocks World, a DP World company, has joined forces with Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) to develop India’s first ship repair cluster at the International Ship Repair Facility (ISRF) in Cochin, Kerala.
The collaboration marks a major step toward strengthening India’s maritime infrastructure and positioning the country as a global hub for vessel repair and maintenance.
The Agreement of Heads of Terms was signed during India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai, in the presence of Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal and DP World Group Chairman and CEO Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem. The document was exchanged between Captain Rado Anotolovic, CEO of Drydocks World, and Madhu S Nair, Chairman and Managing Director of Cochin Shipyard Limited.
Located along key international shipping routes, the ISRF features advanced docking facilities and a modern ship lift system capable of servicing a broad range of vessels. The two companies will assess cooperative models to build a sustainable and efficient ship repair ecosystem that supports India’s long-term maritime ambitions.
Captain Anotolovic said the partnership reflects DP World’s commitment to bolstering India’s competitiveness in maritime services, combining global expertise with local experience to make Cochin a preferred regional destination for ship repair.
Nair emphasized that the collaboration unites two leading maritime institutions with a shared vision of excellence and innovation, aiming to raise India’s ship repair standards to international levels.
The initiative aligns with the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, which identifies Cochin as a strategic site for next-generation maritime infrastructure, paving the way for India’s emergence as a key player in global ship repair and maintenance.
