Drydocks World, a DP World company, has won a major contract from AMIGO LNG to deliver the world’s largest Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) facility, marking a significant milestone for Dubai’s maritime and energy industries.

The project will see the conversion of two LNG carriers into Floating Storage Units (FSUs) and the construction of two new FLNG barges at Drydocks World’s Dubai yard. Scheduled to begin operations in the second half of 2028, the four-vessel facility will offer a liquefaction capacity of more than 4.2 million tonnes per annum, surpassing any current floating LNG development worldwide.

AMIGO LNG, a joint venture between Texas-based Epcilon LNG and Singapore’s LNG Alliance, is developing the facility off Guaymas, Sonora, on Mexico’s west coast. Supplied by natural gas from the US Permian Basin, it will enable direct exports to Asia and Latin America, reducing shipping distances compared with US Gulf terminals and cutting both costs and emissions.

Capt. Rado Antolovic, CEO of Drydocks World, said the project reinforces Dubai’s role as a hub for advanced maritime engineering and contributes to global energy transition efforts. The contract will be executed through a modular build strategy, ensuring quality, efficiency, and lower environmental impact.

Dr. Muthu Chezhian, CEO of LNG Alliance, highlighted that the collaboration secures best-in-class production capacity while leveraging the environmental and operational advantages of FLNG solutions.

Drydocks World, which has already delivered more than 10 LNG and FSRU conversions, is positioning this landmark project as a benchmark for future offshore energy developments.
