Dubai is set to significantly boost its educational sector with the opening of 39 new private schools, nurseries, and universities for the 2024-25 academic year.

This expansion will add over 16,000 new seats across a variety of fee levels, according to the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA).

Among the new institutions are five schools following the UK curriculum, including the Dubai British School Jumeirah, GEMS Founders School Dubai South, New Dawn Private School in Muhaisnah, Hampton Heights International School in Twar, and Springfield International School in Al Aweer. Additionally, the Lycée Français Jean Mermoz South in Al Barsha South will introduce a French curriculum.

The early childhood sector will also see significant growth, with 29 new early childhood centres (ECCs) opening, alongside seven that welcomed students earlier this summer. Notably, the new centres will predominantly offer the UK early years foundation stage curriculum, with the first ECC in Dubai to provide the Chinese curriculum.

In higher education, four new KHDA-licensed institutions will be introduced. These include SKEMA Business School from France, Plekhanov Russian University of Economics from Russia, and Symbiosis International University from India, each offering bachelor’s and master’s programs. Additionally, the Neohorizon School of Business, a collaboration between the UAE and China, will offer a specialized master’s degree in business.

Aisha Miran, KHDA’s director-general, emphasized the commitment to enhancing Dubai’s educational landscape, stating,

“By welcoming these new schools, early childhood centres, and higher education institutions, we’re not just adding numbers, but creating more opportunities for our children and youth. Our goal is to ensure every child in Dubai has access to high-quality education that nurtures their potential and prepares them for the future.”
