Dubai: 88% of DCT Students Secure Jobs During First Internship Year

Dubai College of Tourism (DCT) is set to expand as interest from international students surges.

Essa Bin Hadher, General Manager at DCT, noted that in 2023, approximately 88% of DCT students secured employment during their first-year internships.

“We provide students with tools to transition smoothly from student life to skilled employees,”

said Bin Hadher, highlighting the college’s successful partnerships with the private sector to ensure students find jobs with ease.

DCT, established in 2016, aligns its curriculum with the UAE’s National Qualification Framework, adapting specifically to Dubai’s unique cultural and industry needs.

“We wanted a curriculum that resonates with our city rather than importing one from abroad,”

explained Bin Hadher. This local approach includes developing online educational platforms to help global travel agents and hospitality staff understand and promote Dubai better.

DCT has formed partnerships with leading hotels, airlines, and tech companies, which provide students with internship opportunities and first-hand industry experience. Career open days, CV workshops, and industry talks help students prepare for immediate job placements. High-profile events like GITEX and Dubai Fashion Week offer students hands-on exposure to the industry.

The college’s alumni network features success stories like Adrian Paiva, now an event manager, and Nour Amro, a chef de partie at a Dubai hotel, both of whom credit their achievements to DCT’s rigorous curriculum and industry placements. Bin Hadher emphasized that such vocational training equips students for real-world success, ensuring they are ready to work from day one.
