Dubai's Electronic Security Centre (DESC) has introduced the Dubai AI Security Policy, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at advancing confidence in artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, fostering their development, and addressing electronic security challenges.

The policy was officially announced during DESC’s role as the cybersecurity partner at the Dubai AI and Web3 Festival 2024, held from September 11-12 at Madinat Jumeirah.

The festival, organized by the Dubai AI Campus in collaboration with the Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications Office and the Dubai International Financial Centre, drew over 5,000 business leaders, 500 investors, and approximately 100 exhibitors from 100 countries. The event showcased the latest advancements in AI, Web3, and digital economies.

Yousuf Al Shaibani, CEO of DESC, emphasized the policy’s alignment with the UAE’s strategic vision to lead globally in AI by 2031.

"The AI Security Policy reflects DESC’s dedication to realizing the UAE’s ambitious goals and accelerating AI adoption in key sectors,"

Al Shaibani stated. He highlighted the policy’s role in supporting Dubai’s annual plan and the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which aims to double the emirate’s economy over the next decade and secure its place among the top three global economic cities.

Amer Sharaf, CEO of DESC’s Cybersecurity Systems and Services Sector, described the policy as a significant enhancement to DESC’s innovative projects, reinforcing Dubai’s commitment to cybersecurity and its position as a global AI hub. The policy seeks to bolster trust, protect innovations from cyber threats, and enhance public-private sector collaboration, thereby attracting AI investments to Dubai.

This initiative marks a pivotal step in strengthening Dubai’s digital infrastructure and supporting its vision for a more secure and innovative future.
