Dubai Airports has achieved the prestigious Level 4 “Transformation” Airport Carbon Accreditation from Airports Council International (ACI), marking a major leap in its sustainability journey.
The recognition was presented to CEO Paul Griffiths during the ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East Regional Assembly.
This accreditation places Dubai International (DXB) among a select group of global airports acknowledged for delivering absolute emissions reductions and driving collective climate action across the aviation sector.
Awarded in April to align with Earth Day, the milestone highlights Dubai Airports’ steady progress toward the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 goal. The operator has rolled out a robust long-term decarbonisation strategy, backed by targeted, high-impact initiatives.
Key efforts include boosting energy efficiency across airport infrastructure, installing the region’s largest airport rooftop solar system at Terminal 2, introducing waste-to-compost conversion, and shifting airside vehicle fleets to biodiesel-blended fuel.
Griffiths noted that the recognition reflects not just internal progress but also strong collaboration with stakeholders across the ecosystem to push climate priorities forward.
The achievement cements DXB’s role as a regional leader in sustainable aviation and underscores Dubai Airports' commitment to long-term environmental responsibility.
