Dubai Airports is on track for a record-breaking year, with passenger traffic at Dubai International Airport projected to reach 95.3 million by the end of 2025 — solidifying its position as the world’s busiest international hub for the 11th consecutive year.

During the Dubai Airshow 2025 press conference, CEO Paul Griffiths announced that the airport is expected to surpass 100 million passengers by 2027. He added that by 2031, passenger numbers are anticipated to approach 115 million, before operations transition to Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) in 2032 to accommodate around 124 million passengers.

Griffiths also highlighted that Dubai Airshow 2025 will be the largest and most impressive edition since its inception, calling it the world’s premier aviation event. Opening in November, the exhibition will showcase breakthroughs in aviation, aerospace, and defence technologies, including electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft and next-generation space innovations.

On the development of Al Maktoum International Airport, Griffiths confirmed that construction is progressing, with final designs being completed. He noted Dubai Airports’ collaboration with aviation engineering partners to create one of the most advanced airports in the world.

Operational since 2010, the DWC facility currently handles cargo, executive, and charter flights along with some scheduled services. Once fully operational, it is expected to redefine global air travel capacity and reinforce Dubai’s leadership in international aviation.
