Dubai and Elon Musk Unveil ‘Dubai Loop’ for Seamless City Travel
Dubai has taken a bold step towards futuristic transportation with the launch of the “Dubai Loop,” an advanced tunnel-based transit system designed to revolutionize urban mobility.
The project was jointly announced by Omar Sultan Al Olama, UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, and Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, during a video call at the World Governments Summit 2025 (WGS).
The "Dubai Loop" aims to create a seamless travel experience across the city's most densely populated areas, eliminating congestion through a high-speed underground tunnel network. Musk compared the concept to a "wormhole," allowing passengers to travel between destinations almost instantaneously without traditional traffic delays.
Musk emphasized the advantages of tunnel systems over other transport innovations like flying cars, citing their safety, efficiency, and insulation from external factors like weather and noise. He also discussed government efficiency, stressing the need to reduce bureaucracy and improve public sector technology.
He highlighted that excessive regulations have created unnecessary restrictions and suggested eliminating outdated government agencies to enhance efficiency and accountability. Musk stated that such reforms could save the U.S. a trillion dollars, reduce inflation, and improve overall productivity by shifting employees to high-value roles in the private sector.
Additionally, Musk announced that his AI chatbot “Grok 3” is nearing completion and will be released within weeks. He claimed that Grok 3 has superior reasoning capabilities, surpassing existing AI models.
The launch of the Dubai Loop marks another milestone in Dubai’s journey toward smart mobility, reinforcing its position as a global leader in innovative urban development.
