His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, announced the launch of Dubai National University, a significant AED4.5 billion investment under the Dubai Social Agenda 33.

The new institution aims to strengthen Dubai’s position as a global hub for higher education and scientific research while developing highly skilled Emirati leaders and professionals.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), His Highness said,

"We aspire for Dubai National University to rank among the top 50 young universities within the next decade, offering future-focused academic programs."

He emphasized that the university will play a vital role in equipping future generations to navigate the rapidly changing world.

The university, which aims to be among the top 200 global universities within 20 years, will offer specialized programs and focus on academic excellence. H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has been appointed President, with H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed as Vice President, and H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. The university will also benefit from guidance provided by a Global Advisory Board, including renowned experts such as Dr. Mohamed El-Erian and Professor Fadel Adib.

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan stated that Dubai National University would contribute to Dubai’s innovation ecosystem by attracting global talent and fostering academic collaboration.

Sheikh Maktoum added that the university will support Dubai's economic goals by nurturing entrepreneurial skills and advancing the knowledge-based economy.

This new initiative is expected to enhance Dubai’s educational standing globally, with plans for high-quality programs that align with Dubai’s goal of being among the top 10 cities for education in the next decade. Dubai National University will provide students with world-class research opportunities and internships, positioning itself as a key contributor to Dubai's future development.
