Dubai will implement gradual road closures, including parts of Sheikh Zayed Road, starting from 4 PM on December 31, to facilitate New Year’s Eve celebrations, according to Hussain Al Bana, Executive Director of Traffic at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
Residents and visitors heading to Downtown Dubai and other popular firework locations are advised to plan their trips early and use public transport. Those not attending the festivities are encouraged to leave the area early, while guests with bookings should arrive before 4 PM.
Road Closure Timings
- Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard: 4 PM
- Financial Centre Street (Lower Deck): 4 PM
- Al Mustaqbal Street: 4 PM
- Burj Khalifa Street: 4 PM
- Al Asayel Road (from Oud Metha to Burj Khalifa): 4 PM
- Al Sukuk Street: 8 PM
- Financial Road (Upper Level): 8 PM
- Sheikh Zayed Road: Gradual closure from 11 PM
Viewing Areas for Workers and Families
The RTA has arranged dedicated zones for workers to enjoy the celebrations safely, equipped with large screens and meal services. Family-only viewing areas have also been designated, with further details to follow.
Parking and Shuttle Services
To accommodate the influx of visitors, the RTA has provided 20,000 additional parking spaces at Dubai Mall, Zabeel, and Emaar Boulevard. Alternative parking spots at Al Wasl and GDRFA lots will offer free shuttle services.
Metro users are encouraged to park at stations like Centerpoint, Etisalat e&, and Jebel Ali. Note that the Dubai Water Canal Footbridge and elevators will close at 4 PM.
Celebration Highlights
Dubai will welcome 2025 with fireworks at 36 locations, including iconic venues such as Burj Park, Global Village, Dubai Festival City Mall, Al Seef, Bluewaters, The Beach at JBR, and Hatta.
