Dubai's commitment to enhanced infrastructure was reaffirmed as His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, approved a new five-year plan for internal roads (2025-2029).
The AED 3.7 billion project aims to construct 634 km of roads across 12 residential, commercial, and industrial areas, boosting connectivity to meet Dubai's urban growth and enhance residents' quality of life.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will manage the development, which includes phased construction in several key areas. In 2025, Nad El Sheba 3 and Al Amardi will see new roads to support the Mohammed bin Rashid Housing Establishment’s housing projects. By 2026, 92 km of internal roads are planned for Nadd Hessa and Al Awir 1. Additional projects will follow, with Hatta, Al Athbah, and Mushrif included in the 2027 developments.
Highlighting the project’s scope, Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the RTA Board, stated that 284 km of roads will be constructed across Al Awir 1, Wadi Al Amardi, and Hind 3 in 2028, with 200 km planned for Hind 4 and Al Yalayis 5 by 2029.
Al Tayer emphasized the RTA's dedication to safe, smooth access for residents, noting that Dubai has already paved over 6,000 km of roads in residential and industrial areas.
"Since 2011, internal roads in 28 areas have been completed,"
he said, with recent projects in Al Warqa, Al Qusais, and Hatta. Current roadwork continues in Jebel Ali Industrial, Al Khawaneej, and Al Awir. This ambitious plan reflects Dubai's drive to support its growing population and enhance urban mobility.
