Dubai Approves AED10 Billion Expansion for Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, has approved a significant AED10 billion expansion of the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC) at Expo City Dubai.

This development will establish DEC as the largest indoor exhibition venue in the region and a key part of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.

Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the importance of the expansion, stating,

“This iconic venue will set new global standards for excellence, reinforcing Dubai's position as a global leader in the events and exhibitions sector.”

The expansion is aligned with Dubai’s broader vision to become a global economic hub, driven by international exhibitions and events. His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum noted that the project will complement the expansion of Al Maktoum International Airport and further enhance Dubai's global connectivity and business landscape.

The DEC’s master plan outlines three phases, with the first phase to be completed by 2026. The entire project, set to conclude by 2031, will increase the exhibition space to 180,000 square meters, enabling Dubai to host over 600 large-scale events annually by 2033. This expansion is projected to boost the economic contribution of Dubai’s Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events (MICE) sector to AED54 billion annually by 2033.

This ambitious project underscores Dubai's commitment to innovation and its role as a global destination for business, tourism, and cultural exchange.
