Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, the Dubai Autism Centre launched its 18th one-month-long Autism Awareness Campaign coinciding with World Autism Awareness Day celebrated on 2 April, under the slogan “Trusting Parents, Empowered Kids”.

Hisham Abdullah Al Qassim, Chairman of Dubai Autism Centre, highlights the UAE's commitment to World Autism Awareness Day and empowering individuals with determination. He praises H.H. Sheikh Hamdan's support and UAE's global leadership in integration.

Mohammed Al Emadi, Director General, emphasizes building stronger family bonds for children with autism, promoting faith in their abilities, and fostering inclusive environments. The campaign includes various events and free screenings for early intervention, utilizing mass media and digital platforms across the UAE. Al Emadi acknowledges strategic partners and supporters, underscoring their crucial role in advancing autism awareness and inclusion efforts.

The Dubai Autism Centre, with support from the Community Development Authority, is hosting a Ramadan evening featuring panel discussions on family support and enhancing belief in the abilities of children with autism. Workshops will also educate private school staff on autism care. Media partner Zee Entertainment emphasizes the importance of collective support. Landmarks in Dubai, including Burj Khalifa and Dubai Frame, will light up blue for World Autism Awareness Day. Since 2006, the Centre has led annual awareness campaigns, aligning with its mission to provide comprehensive services and contribute to Dubai's status as a global hub for autism care. In 2017, the Centre expanded its facility to better serve the community, offering state-of-the-art educational and therapeutic services.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurological and developmental disorder that begins early in childhood and lasts throughout a person's life. ASD can cause significant social, communication, and behavioural challenges. According to recent studies, one in 36 children is affected by ASD.
