Dubai strengthened its push to become a global automotive powerhouse as His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum launched the Dubai Auto Market development project.
The initiative follows the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to build the world’s largest and most advanced auto market.
The project will span 22 million square feet and is being developed by DP World, selected for its global logistics expertise and extensive international network. Sheikh Maktoum also unveiled the market’s new brand identity at the launch event.
Sheikh Maktoum said the project reflects Dubai’s long term vision to reinforce its position as a leading economic and commercial hub. He noted that the market is designed as an all in one destination for automotive investors and enthusiasts, with high tech facilities that will attract new investment and support the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.
Once complete, the market will include more than 1,500 showrooms, workshop zones, warehouses, multi storey parking facilities, a convention centre, hotel and auction house. The site will be capable of handling more than 800,000 vehicles a year, positioning it among the world’s largest automotive trade hubs.
Senior government officials and DP World executives attended the launch, underscoring the project’s strategic importance. DP World Group Chairman Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem said the market represents a major milestone in supporting Dubai’s role in global trade. He added that the hub will leverage the company’s worldwide network and automotive handling capabilities at Jebel Ali Port.
The market will offer exhibition spaces, specialised event zones and integrated services including customs checks and accommodation. It will support the trade of electric, hybrid and conventional vehicles and strengthen Dubai’s connections to key markets across Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
A new partnership agreement between Dubai Municipality and DP World’s Economic Zones sector will guide the establishment and management of the market as Dubai advances its leadership in the automotive industry.
