In line with the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Municipality, in collaboration with the Community Development Authority, has awarded a contract for the construction of five new community neighbourhood councils.
The new facilities will be located in Nad Al Sheba II, Al Awir II, Al Barsha South I, Al Warqa II, and Hatta.
The initiative supports the goals of the ‘Year of Community 2025’ and aligns with the Dubai Social Agenda 33, aiming to enhance Emirati family well-being, reinforce national identity, and promote a cohesive social fabric.
Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Director-General of the Community Development Authority, emphasized the councils' role in fostering cultural preservation and dialogue.
“These spaces reflect the UAE’s identity and adapt to residents' needs, encouraging engagement and national pride,”
she said.
Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Acting Director-General of Dubai Municipality, highlighted the councils as strategic infrastructure that strengthens community bonds and addresses growing urban needs.
“They provide inclusive spaces for dialogue, traditions, and civic participation,”
he noted.
Each council, spanning approximately 1,256 square metres, will include a multi-use hall, daily majlis, prayer halls, staff offices, and community amenities. The Hatta council will feature a design tailored to the region’s unique heritage and landscape.
Construction of the four Dubai-based councils is set for completion by Q4 2025, while the Hatta council is scheduled for Q2 2026. The unified architectural design will blend modern aesthetics with Emirati heritage, reinforcing Dubai’s vision of a connected, inclusive, and liveable city.
