Dubai Municipality has reached a significant global milestone, becoming the first in the world to have its public beaches certified as a Certified Autism Center (CAC) by the International Board of Certification and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES).
This groundbreaking achievement was announced during Dubai Municipality’s participation in the AccessAbilities Expo 2024, a key event focused on empowering people of determination.
The CAC certification highlights Dubai Municipality’s commitment to inclusivity, ensuring that its public beaches are equipped with autism-friendly facilities. This initiative aligns with the emirate's vision of making Dubai the best city to live in and visit, reflecting the leadership's focus on creating an inclusive environment for all.
Ibrahim Mohammad Juma, Director of the Public Beaches and Water Canals Department, expressed pride in the achievement, stating,
“This recognition reinforces our dedication to enhancing Dubai’s status as a premier tourist destination while offering safe and enjoyable experiences for everyone.”
The certification also recognizes Dubai Municipality's efforts in educating staff through specialized programs and maintaining world-class standards in accessibility.
Myron Pincombe, CEO of IBCCES, praised the initiative, noting that Dubai beaches are the first to be globally recognized for their commitment to autism-friendly environments.
Visitors can now access information on beach accommodations through the Accessibility App, helping residents and tourists choose the most suitable locations based on their needs.
This milestone is part of a broader strategy by Dubai Municipality to promote inclusivity and innovation across all public facilities, ensuring comfort and accessibility for all beachgoers.
