Dubai Chamber of Commerce Launches ESG Label to Promote Sustainable Business Practices
In alignment with the UAE’s ‘Year of Sustainability,’ the Dubai Chamber of Commerce has introduced a new Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Label aimed at fostering sustainable business practices across the emirate.
The label, developed by the chamber’s Centre for Responsible Business, serves as a tool for organisations to assess their ESG readiness and maturity, gain recognition, and promote business growth.
The ESG Label framework was meticulously crafted with input from global and regional ESG experts, as well as the local business community. This collaborative approach ensures the framework aligns with both global best practices and local regulatory requirements. The label is designed to provide organisations with a benchmark for their ESG practices, allowing them to enhance their brand image and appeal to potential investors.
His Excellency Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, highlighted the label’s significance, stating,
“The Dubai Chamber of Commerce ESG Label addresses the need for a holistic approach to sustainable business practices that benefit society and the environment. We aim to encourage businesses to embed sustainability into their core operations and decision-making processes.”
Eligible organisations that have been operational for at least two years can apply for the ESG Label. Successful applicants will receive a one-year certificate, a feedback report, and a maturity level score, helping them identify areas for improvement. The label is part of the chamber's broader efforts to integrate sustainability into the business ecosystem.
Recently, the chamber hosted a virtual roadshow, attended by 224 participants, to explain the ESG framework and application process. More sessions are planned to further engage the business community and promote ESG adoption across the region.
