Dubai Chamber of Commerce has launched the first event in its 2026 In Focus series, aimed at supporting local companies seeking expansion opportunities in Ethiopia, Ghana, and South Africa.
Held today, the event drew more than 228 participants and provided a detailed overview of trade and investment prospects across the three African markets. Attendees received practical insights into priority economic sectors, market entry strategies, and the regulatory and operational frameworks required to establish and scale businesses successfully.
The session also marked the introduction of the New Horizons initiative, which enables Dubai-based companies to participate in curated trade missions to selected international markets. As part of the programme, Dubai Chamber of Commerce will organise trade missions to Ethiopia, Ghana, and South Africa during the first half of this year, alongside business matchmaking events and investment-focused meetings.
His Excellency Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, said the initiative reflects a continued commitment to strengthening private sector competitiveness. He noted that providing businesses with market intelligence, strategic guidance, and access to global networks is critical to supporting sustainable international growth while leveraging Dubai’s position as a global trade hub.
The event highlighted the strength of Dubai’s economic ties with Africa. Non-oil trade between Dubai and Ethiopia reached approximately AED 6.6 billion in 2024, marking 90 percent annual growth. Trade with Ghana rose to AED 24.7 billion, up 75 percent, while non-oil trade with South Africa grew 20 percent to AED 29 billion.
Participants in the In Focus series benefit from comprehensive market data, tailored recommendations, and guidance on company formation and joint ventures, supporting informed decision-making throughout their international expansion journeys.
