Dubai Chamber of Commerce, one of the three chambers under Dubai Chambers, has announced the establishment of the Indonesian Business Council.

This strategic initiative aims to bolster trade and investment relations, unlock business opportunities, and foster collaboration between Dubai and Indonesia’s business communities. The new council increases the total number of Business Councils operating under Dubai Chamber’s umbrella to 59.

The launch highlights Dubai’s rising appeal among Indonesian businesses and investors. Non-oil bilateral trade between the two regions exceeded AED 10 billion in the first nine months of 2024, reflecting their robust commercial partnership. Additionally, the number of Indonesian businesses registered as active members of Dubai Chamber of Commerce grew by 60% in 2024, reaching 160 by the end of the year.

The Indonesian Business Council recently held its inaugural annual general meeting at Dubai Chambers' headquarters. Attendees discussed collaborative strategies, upcoming bilateral business events, and emerging opportunities. The meeting also facilitated the exchange of expertise and market insights to strengthen mutual economic ties.

Maha Al Gargawi, Vice President of Business Advocacy at Dubai Chambers, highlighted the vital role of Business Councils in fostering dialogue and cooperation between business communities.

“We are committed to empowering Business Councils to support companies in exploring new opportunities, expanding cooperation, and enhancing the private sector’s competitiveness, all of which contribute to sustainable economic growth in Dubai.”

In line with its commitment to enhancing Dubai-Indonesia relations, Dubai International Chamber inaugurated a representative office in Jakarta in 2023. This was followed by a trade mission to Southeast Asia in May 2024, which saw 200 bilateral business meetings and the ‘Doing Business with Indonesia’ forum, drawing 472 participants, including top officials and business leaders eager to explore partnership opportunities with Dubai-based companies.
