Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy has successfully facilitated the establishment and expansion of 1,210 digital startups in Dubai in 2024, marking a 120% increase compared to the previous year.
This surge highlights Dubai’s growing appeal as a hub for digital entrepreneurship.
The chamber also trained 1,333 Emiratis in mobile application development under the ‘Create Apps in Dubai’ initiative, launched by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. This initiative aims to triple the number of app developers in Dubai by 2025 and support 100 new national projects for mobile application development.
Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications and Chairman of the chamber, reaffirmed Dubai’s commitment to fostering the digital economy. He emphasized the importance of enhancing technological sectors to drive economic growth and empower national talent.
The chamber’s efforts extended to organizing the 2024 App competition, which received over 1,100 entries from 64 countries. The competition culminated with 12 finalists, showcasing Dubai’s potential as a global smart application development hub.
Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy also hosted 20 international roadshows to promote the emirate’s digital landscape and Expand North Star, the world’s largest startup and investor event. The 2024 edition of Expand North Star attracted over 1,800 startups, 1,200 investors from 100 countries managing assets worth over US$1 trillion, and 65 unicorn companies valued at over US$400 billion.
Further bolstering Dubai’s digital business ecosystem, the chamber’s ‘Business in Dubai’ platform collaborated with 77 partners to support businesses. Additionally, it hosted 21 industry events, signed 12 MoUs with global entities, and issued six economic reports, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a leading digital economy powerhouse.
