Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy Showcases Dubai’s Role as Global Hub for Digital Startups
The Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, one of the three chambers operating under Dubai Chambers, highlighted Dubai’s business advantages for fostering digital startups during a panel discussion at Expand North Star 2024.
The event, organized by Dubai World Trade Centre and hosted by the chamber, runs from October 13th to 16th at Dubai Harbour.
Saeed Al Gergawi, Vice President of Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, underscored the emirate’s position as a global destination for entrepreneurs and a leader in the digital economy. He emphasized that Dubai’s proactive efforts to support digital companies align with the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which aims to generate AED 100 billion annually through digital transformation initiatives.
Al Gergawi highlighted Dubai’s strategic location, extensive logistics network, and diverse social environment, which attract top talent and digital startups from around the world. He also pointed out the emirate’s advanced infrastructure, modern lifestyle, and business-friendly legislative framework as critical factors in its growing appeal to entrepreneurs.
At the event, Al Gergawi also discussed the App Olympics, an initiative under the “Create Apps in Dubai” program launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The competition, aimed at innovators globally, offers a prize package worth US$150,000, six months of mentorship, and media support. The initiative is part of Dubai’s strategy to train Emiratis in app development and triple the number of app developers in the city by 2025.
Dubai’s commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship continues to strengthen its position as a global hub for the digital economy.
