The Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy has announced that it supported the establishment and growth of 485 digital startups in the emirate between Q1 and Q3 of 2024, marking an impressive 380% year-over-year growth.

This surge highlights the chamber’s ongoing efforts to foster a thriving digital ecosystem in Dubai.

Key sectors benefiting from this support include Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning, which accounted for 11% of startups, followed by fintech (9%), Software as a Service (SaaS) (7%), Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) (7%), and health tech (7%).

Additionally, the chamber has focused on empowering Emirati talent through its ‘Create Apps in Dubai’ initiative. So far, 787 Emiratis have been trained in coding and mobile app development, with the goal of qualifying 1,000 individuals by 2025 to help triple Dubai’s app developer base and foster 100 national projects for mobile applications.

His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, Chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, emphasized the importance of these initiatives in achieving the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which aims to generate AED 100 billion annually through digital transformation. He also highlighted the chamber’s role in attracting foreign direct investment, strengthening Dubai’s digital economy, and aligning with the UAE’s long-term vision.

The chamber also organized 20 events and 22 international tours in 2024 to promote Dubai’s digital ecosystem and bolster business partnerships globally. Furthermore, it signed five MoUs with regional and international entities to enhance collaboration across key digital sectors.
