Dubai Chambers has held high-level talks with a visiting Queensland delegation to boost trade and investment cooperation between Dubai and Australia.

The meeting, led by the Honourable Rosslyn Bates, Queensland’s Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment, and Training, took place at Dubai Chambers’ headquarters and brought together senior officials, including H.E. Yahya Lootah, Vice Chairman of Dubai Chamber of Commerce, and H.E. Ridwaan Jadwat, Australian Ambassador to the UAE.

Lootah reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to building stronger international partnerships and noted that Queensland remains a key economic partner. He stressed the importance of opening new channels that empower businesses and stimulate global trade.

Discussions focused on expanding collaboration across priority sectors and highlighted Dubai’s position as a strategic hub for Australian companies seeking access to markets across the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia. Officials pointed to Dubai’s infrastructure, supportive policies, and growing investor base as major advantages for foreign businesses.

Trade figures reflect the growing relationship. Dubai’s non-oil trade with Australia reached AED 13.1 billion in 2024, up 8% from the previous year. In the first half of 2025 alone, 250 new Australian companies registered with Dubai Chamber of Commerce, bringing the total number of Australian member companies to 1,594.

The meeting also built on the foundation laid in 2023 when Dubai International Chamber opened its representative office in Australia to attract investment into Dubai and help local firms expand into the Australian market.

Both sides expressed optimism about unlocking new opportunities and deepening cooperation in the years ahead.
