Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management, the Dubai Civil Defence has unveiled the ambitious ‘1 Billion Readiness’ initiative.
This groundbreaking global programme aims to train and raise awareness about fire hazard prevention among 1 billion people worldwide between 2025 and 2027.
The initiative, the largest of its kind, underscores the UAE’s leadership in safety and security. It brings together 34 countries and 18 major firefighting organisations in a collaborative effort to enhance global safety standards. A cornerstone of this programme, the Hope Convoys project, will support developing countries by providing essential equipment, establishing fire stations, and strengthening emergency response capabilities.
Lieutenant General Expert Rashid Thani Al Matrooshi highlighted the initiative’s focus on global awareness through multilingual digital platforms and certified training. Participants completing the courses will receive certificates from the Global Wildfire Monitoring Center and Dubai Civil Defence. Locally, the programme will engage individuals, government bodies, private sectors, and schools through extensive campaigns.
"This initiative will raise global awareness about fire prevention and safety procedures, ensuring a far-reaching impact on societies worldwide,"
Al Matrooshi stated.
The programme reaffirms Dubai’s commitment to global safety, fostering international cooperation in emergency preparedness and fire prevention.
