Dubai’s commercial transport sector posted robust growth in 2025, with the number of licensed companies rising by more than 40 percent year on year, underscoring strong investor confidence and the emirate’s expanding logistics ecosystem, according to the Roads and Transport Authority.
Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority, said licensed commercial transport companies increased from 12,100 in 2024 to 16,917 in 2025. The sector also surpassed 500,000 registered vehicles, marking a growth of approximately 25 percent.

The commercial transport industry now contributes more than AED 8.4 billion annually to Dubai’s economy, reinforcing its role as a key driver of trade and logistics activity. Officials attributed the expansion to accelerated digital transformation, wider adoption of smart mobility solutions, and growing demand for app based delivery services alongside expanding logistics and vehicle rental operations.
The sector’s performance aligns with the Dubai Commercial and Logistics Land Transport Strategy 2030, which aims to strengthen sustainable economic development and enhance the sector’s integration within the broader economic ecosystem.
During 2025, the RTA introduced several strategic initiatives, including a comprehensive regulatory framework for autonomous heavy vehicles operating in logistics. The authority also launched the digital Logisty platform, designed to streamline logistics operations, which received the ideasUK Idea of the Year 2025 Innovation Award.
Sustainability measures formed a key part of the sector’s progress. The RTA partnered with a specialised company to develop battery swapping stations for delivery bikes and established dedicated rest areas for delivery drivers to improve safety and working conditions.
Al Tayer said continued innovation, stronger public private partnerships, and streamlined licensing procedures will further enhance Dubai’s competitiveness as a global hub for transport, logistics, and trade while supporting the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.
