Dubai CommerCity has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Global Commerce Foundation to drive innovation in digital commerce and explore how agentic AI can automate business tasks, helping companies work more efficiently and expand into new markets.
The agreement was signed at Dubai CommerCity's headquarters on the sidelines of Ai Everything Abu Dhabi 2026. Dubai CommerCity is the first free zone in the MENA region dedicated to digital commerce and operates under the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority. The Global Commerce Foundation is an independent international organisation that promotes cooperation between markets, businesses, entrepreneurs, experts and academic institutions.
The partnership sets out a framework for cooperation in digital, cross-border, unified and collaborative commerce, along with emerging technologies. It also looks at AI solutions that can carry out business processes with greater autonomy.
Amna Lootah, Director General of Dubai CommerCity, said agentic AI marks a fundamental shift as AI moves from a supporting tool to a system that executes tasks. She added that the partnership supports Dubai's vision of becoming a global hub for trade and the digital economy.
Marcos Pueyrredon, President of the Global Commerce Foundation, said the collaboration will test solutions in an active business environment and share insights across the foundation's international networks. These include the eCommerce Institute in Latin America and the Caribbean and EICOM in Europe.
A key milestone in the first year will be the Global Finale of the Tetrix Agentic World League, set to take place in Dubai in 2027 during Dubai AI Week.
The partnership also covers applied research, proof-of-concept projects, market studies and executive education, as well as mentorship, innovation challenges, incubation programmes and business accelerators.
