Dubai could soon become a hub for affordable space tourism, offering travelers the unique opportunity to view iconic landmarks such as the Burj Khalifa and Palm Jumeirah from the edge of space.

Space Perspective, a pioneering space travel company, is actively exploring the possibility of establishing a launch site in the city.

“Being able to launch over Palm Island and see all these recognisable landmarks is a dream,”

said Michael Savage, CEO of Space Perspective. Highlighting the region’s appeal, he described Dubai as

“one of the most beautiful areas we could launch from.”

Roman Chiporukha, Co-Founder and CEO of SpaceVIP, a key partner in the venture, expressed optimism about the project’s expansion in the region.

“We’ve seen significant interest from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Saudi Arabia. Once we find the right partner, we aim to start operations here,”

he said.

Affordable Space Travel for All

Space Perspective is on a mission to democratize space travel, making it accessible to a wider audience. Unlike traditional rocket launches, their innovative approach involves a pressurized capsule tethered to a hydrogen balloon, ascending at a leisurely 12 miles per hour.

“For this journey, there’s no extensive training or physical strain, like the 6Gs of a rocket launch,”

explained Chiporukha.

“If you can handle a commercial flight, you can take this trip to the edge of space.”

Priced at approximately AED 460,000, the six-hour experience includes two hours ascending, two hours at the edge of space, and a gentle descent. The capsule offers luxury seating, expansive windows for unparalleled views, and amenities such as a restroom and gourmet meals.

Gastronomy Meets Space

Space Perspective’s capsule, the Space Lounge, accommodates up to eight passengers and a captain. To enhance the experience, the company collaborated with a Michelin-starred chef, offering travelers the world’s first Michelin-star meal in space.

Strong Demand and Growing Interest

The company has already sold 1,800 tickets, amassing a $225 million backlog. Chiporukha emphasized that this isn’t just an experience for the ultra-wealthy.

“Some of our customers are middle-class families saving up for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,”

he said.

He also noted the enthusiasm of baby boomers, many of whom grew up watching iconic space missions.

“They’re using their savings to fulfill lifelong dreams, even at the expense of passing down an inheritance,”

he added.

With growing regional interest and a promising concept, Space Perspective’s potential launch site in Dubai could redefine the future of space tourism, merging luxury, accessibility, and the unparalleled thrill of exploring the final frontier.
