Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Emirates Intellectual Property Association (EIPA) to strengthen cooperation in promoting and protecting intellectual property (IP) rights across the UAE.

The partnership focuses on raising awareness about the significance of IP in supporting the knowledge economy, enhancing legal and cultural understanding, and nurturing creative industries.

As part of the agreement, both entities will coordinate on initiatives such as workshops, awareness campaigns, and training programmes to spread knowledge on IP rights and their role in protecting innovation and creativity. The collaboration will also include the exchange of educational materials, research publications, knowledge videos, and periodicals, while encouraging the development of scientific and cultural studies in the field of intellectual property.

Her Excellency Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture, highlighted the importance of the initiative in enabling a vibrant innovation ecosystem:

“The country is witnessing a dynamic cultural movement… Our partnership with EIPA aligns with our efforts to strengthen the cultural and creative industries, positively impacting the building of a knowledge economy.”

The MoU aligns with Dubai Culture’s broader mission to establish Dubai as a global centre for culture, a supportive incubator for creativity, and a thriving hub for talent. It also reinforces the UAE’s evolving legislative framework aimed at protecting intellectual property and fostering research, development, and international investment.

Major General Dr. Abdul Quddoos Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidly, Chairman of EIPA, affirmed the partnership's value:

“This partnership embodies our mutual commitment to promoting the principles and foundations of intellectual property and raising public awareness of its importance…”

He further noted that EIPA continues to build capacity in the field through training initiatives, aiming to support creators and strengthen the UAE’s position as a global leader in intellectual property protection.
