The inaugural 'Talent Atelier' programme, a collaborative initiative by the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority and L'ÉCOLE Middle East, School of Jewelry Arts, supported by Van Cleef & Arpels, has successfully concluded at L'ÉCOLE's Dubai Design District campus.
The event celebrated the achievements of twelve talented Emirati designers who received certificates after completing an intensive three-week jewellery design course.
Aimed at enhancing the skills of emerging local designers, the programme featured courses and lectures led by a team of professional jewellers, gemologists, and art historians. Participants delved into topics such as Art History, gemstones, and jewellery-making techniques. A special visit to the Al Safa Art and Design Library allowed participants to explore L’ÉCOLE’s first offsite library corner, showcasing curated books on jewellery art.
During the ceremony, keynotes were delivered by Her Excellency Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture; Alessandro Maffi, President of Van Cleef & Arpels Middle East and India; and Sophie Claudel, Director of L'ÉCOLE Middle East. Hala Badri highlighted the Authority's pride in its partnership with L'ÉCOLE and emphasized the programme's role in fostering innovation and enriching Dubai's creative landscape.
Looking ahead, six outstanding designers will have the opportunity to be selected for a five-day educational journey to Paris in November 2024, where they will further their jewellery education at L'ÉCOLE France. L'ÉCOLE Middle East is committed to supporting educational programmes with social impact, donating all proceeds from public courses to Dubai Cares youth education initiatives.
The 'Talent Atelier' programme marks a significant milestone in the collaboration between Dubai Culture and L'ÉCOLE Middle East, strengthening the cultural landscape of the region.
