Dubai Culture Launches Al Marmoom Short-Film Competition for 2024
Dubai Culture and Arts Authority has announced the open call for the Al Marmoom Short-Film Competition, part of the fourth edition of the Al Marmoom: Film in the Desert festival.
The competition, which seeks to enrich the local film scene and support emerging filmmakers, invites participants from around the world to submit their work between 14 August and 30 September 2024.
The competition features four categories: documentaries, animated films, live-action, and films created using artificial intelligence. Submissions will be evaluated by a panel of experts, with the finalists to be showcased at the festival held at Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve from 3 to 12 January 2025.
Dubai Culture aims to foster innovation and creativity in the film industry through this initiative, offering a platform for filmmakers to showcase their work and gain recognition. The festival, which previously featured over 70 films, will also include workshops, talks, and exhibitions to further inspire and develop talent in the region.
The event underscores Dubai’s commitment to supporting the arts and nurturing the next generation of filmmakers, ensuring the sustainability and growth of the local and regional film industry.
