Dubai Culture Launches Art + Tech Collaborative Training Programme
Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has unveiled the ‘Art + Tech Collaborative Training Programme,’ a pioneering four-month initiative in partnership with REALIITY.
This programme aims to bridge the gap between artistic creativity and technological innovation, empowering artists with the skills to integrate advanced technology into their creative processes. The initiative aligns with Dubai’s vision of becoming a global cultural hub and fostering a thriving creative economy.
Running until 10 February 2025, the programme features six selected artists who will explore the intersection of art and technology. Participants will receive hands-on training in coding (Python), basic electronics, sensors, microcontroller programming, 3D modelling, and 3D printing. These skills will culminate in the creation of individual art-tech installations to be showcased at a public exhibition.
Weekly workshops, led by industry expert Dr Ahmed Al Attar, are held at Bait 341 in the Al Shindagha Historical District. The programme emphasizes technical skill development, innovative thinking, and collaborative learning, with artists benefiting from mentorship and exposure to cutting-edge art-tech practices.
Dr Saeed Mubarak bin Kharbash, CEO of the Arts, Design, and Literature Sector at Dubai Culture, stated:
“This programme reflects Dubai’s commitment to fostering innovation and empowering artists to enrich the creative landscape by merging art and technology. It underscores our leadership in promoting a knowledge- and innovation-driven economy.”
Delivered under the Dubai Cultural Grant programme, this initiative highlights Dubai Culture’s dedication to nurturing talent and supporting groundbreaking artistic practices. By integrating art and technology, the programme reinforces Dubai’s global cultural influence and commitment to advancing the creative economy.
