The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has unveiled the ‘Earth’s Treasures in Hatta’ winter camp, set to run on weekends from 9 November to 2 December at Hatta Heritage Village.
The initiative aims to educate youth about the importance of preserving the UAE's natural and cultural heritage while aligning with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision to enhance Hatta's cultural landscape.
The camp, designed for children aged 7 to 12, offers hands-on educational activities focused on Hatta's natural environment. Children will explore the region's geological features and cultural history through a series of interactive workshops led by experts. The theme, ‘Preserving Hatta’s Natural Heritage,’ aims to instill a passion for sustainability and discovery in young minds.
Mariam Dhaen Al Tamimi, Acting Director of the Heritage Sites Department at Dubai Culture, highlighted that the camp is an integral part of the Authority's mission to promote environmental and cultural awareness.
“This camp offers enriching experiences that expand intellectual and creative perspectives, empowering children to learn about sustainability, ancient lifestyles, and climate resilience,”
she said.
The camp's activities include exciting field adventures, where children will explore the formation of the Hatta mountains, uncover fossils, and engage in simulated archaeological digs. They will also participate in workshops on rocks, minerals, and ecosystems, fostering teamwork, creativity, and critical thinking. A special ‘UAE National Day Adventure’ will further immerse participants in the country’s history through a treasure hunt in Hatta’s simulated landscapes.
This educational experience promises to ignite curiosity and deepen participants' understanding of the environment, geology, and sustainability in a fun and immersive setting.
