Dubai Culture and Arts Authority has announced the return of its popular Reading Box initiative, set to take place at City Centre Mirdif from October 28 to November 6, 2025.
The annual event aims to inspire a love of reading among children and adults while advancing the UAE’s National Literacy Strategy 2016–2026 and Dubai Culture’s broader mission of fostering societal development through culture.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of Reading Box, which first launched in 2016 in support of the UAE Reading Law. The initiative was created to embed reading into everyday life, boost national literary output, and help build a knowledge-driven economy.
The 2025 edition, aligned with Dubai’s Quality of Life Strategy, will feature a diverse lineup of panel discussions, poetry evenings, and creative workshops. Visitors can expect interactive sessions with Emirati and resident writers, poets, and intellectuals, offering opportunities to learn, share, and connect through the written word.
Since its inception, Reading Box has drawn over 33,000 participants, including nearly 2,000 students from 70 schools. The initiative has hosted more than 380 activities, distributed 3,000 books, and achieved a 96% happiness index, reflecting its strong community impact.
Originally launched at The Dubai Mall before moving to City Walk and Dubai Festival City Mall, the event found its permanent home at City Centre Mirdif in 2019. Over the years, it has become a cornerstone of Dubai Culture’s efforts to position the emirate as a global centre for culture, a hub for creativity, and a nurturing space for talent.
