The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has solidified its commitment to preserving Dubai’s rich heritage by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dubai Police and Dubai Customs.
The agreement, which took place in the presence of HE Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture, HE Nasser Al Neyadi, CEO of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, and Colonel Mubarak Saeed Al Ketbi, Director of the Organized Crime Department at Dubai Police, aims to enhance collaboration in the protection and preservation of the emirate’s archaeological treasures.
The MoU establishes streamlined communication channels among the three parties, ensuring effective responses to archaeological reports and facilitating the exchange of information, studies, and reports. The agreement also emphasizes the development of professional capabilities in archaeological inspection, with a focus on integrating technology and digitisation tools to enhance preservation efforts.
Muna Faisal Al Gurg, CEO of the Culture and Heritage Sector at Dubai Culture, underscored the importance of the MoU in bolstering Dubai’s global heritage status.
“Archaeological sites are vital to understanding Dubai's history and enhancing its global cultural footprint. This partnership will boost public awareness and improve the management and protection of these invaluable assets,”
she said.
Brigadier General Harib Mohammed Saeed Al Shamsi, Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation, highlighted Dubai Police's dedication to supporting Dubai’s heritage conservation.
“This collaboration is crucial for achieving our strategic goals and preserving our cultural heritage,”
he stated.
Mansoor Al Malik, Executive Director of the Policies and Legislation Division at Dubai Customs, expressed enthusiasm for the enhanced cooperation.
“This MoU marks a significant step in our joint efforts to safeguard historical artifacts and advance Dubai’s cultural and tourism aspirations,”
he said.
The agreement reflects a unified commitment to safeguarding Dubai’s archaeological and cultural legacy, reinforcing the city’s position as a leading global destination for tourism and culture.
