Dubai Culture Sponsors ‘Bil Emirati’ Strand at Emirates Airline Festival of Literature

Dubai Culture and Arts Authority is proudly sponsoring the ‘Bil Emirati’ strand at the 17th Emirates Airline Festival of Literature, providing a significant platform to celebrate Emirati authors and support their creative journeys.

The festival, which runs until 3 February 2025 at the InterContinental Dubai Festival City, features 43 authors across 36 sessions, showcasing the rich literary talent of the UAE.

Dr. Saeed Mubarak bin Kharbash, CEO of the Arts, Design and Literature Sector at Dubai Culture, highlighted the authority’s commitment to promoting local talent.

“Our support for the ‘Bil Emirati’ strand reflects our dedication to fostering an environment where Emirati authors can engage with the international community, strengthening Dubai’s role as a global cultural hub,”

he said.

The ‘Bil Emirati’ strand includes a range of events, such as a talk with HE Mohammed Al Murr and Faisal Abbas, and a session titled ‘Dubai: Home of Creativity,’ featuring UAE Golden Visa holders Mamdouh Hamada, Nabil Suleiman, Hawra Al-nadawi, and Amal Ismail. Poets Khalid Albudoor and Asmaa Azaizeh will lead ‘Postmodern Prose,’ while ‘Collective Portrait of the Gulf’ explores the region’s cultural landscape with authors Salha Obaid, Abdulatif Yousef, and Mohamed Alyahyai.

Other highlights include ‘Blame it on Mum,’ which delves into motherhood’s impact on identity, and ‘The Everlasting Walk,’ discussing how cities shape literary works. Emirati poet Adel Khozam will also launch his epic ‘Manseera,’ a collaboration with 86 poets globally.

This year’s festival not only amplifies the voices of Emirati writers but also reinforces Dubai’s position as a thriving incubator for creativity and cultural exchange.
