Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), in collaboration with Alserkal Arts Foundation, has unveiled Resonance, a site-specific art installation in Al Shindagha Historic Neighbourhood.

The installation is part of the Dubai Public Art Strategy, which seeks to transform the city into an open-air gallery while celebrating its creative identity.

The reveal took place during the 13th Sikka Art & Design Festival, held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture. As part of the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy, the festival provides a platform for emerging UAE and Gulf artists to showcase their work.

Designed by Maryam Namvar and Neda Salmanpour, Resonance is a sculptural installation that blends visual, auditory, and spatial elements. Featuring three suspended metal panels, the artwork interacts with wind, light, and sound, reflecting the rhythms of Dubai Creek and its rich heritage of trade, architecture, and diverse communities.

Curator Munira Al Sayegh emphasized the significance of public art, stating,

“Public art remains one of the most powerful forms of expression as it is directly accessible to any public within its reach.”

Dr. Saeed Mubarak bin Kharbash, CEO of the Arts, Design, and Literature Sector at Dubai Culture, highlighted that Resonance aligns with the authority’s vision to integrate art with Dubai’s historical landscape.

“This project supports the cultural and creative industries while empowering talent to express artistic visions rooted in Dubai’s heritage,”

he said.

The installation is the first of three Dubai Public Art projects commissioned by Dubai Culture and Alserkal Arts Foundation. These initiatives aim to foster artistic excellence and deeper connections between artists and the city, with future installations planned for Al Quoz Creative Zone and Hatta.
