This innovative concept, highlighted during the ‘Journey to Net Zero Forum’ organized by Khaleej Times, allows party organizers to create opulent table settings without the financial strain of purchasing expensive items.
Florence Bulté, Chief Sustainability Officer at Chalhoub Group, presented the concept as a modern twist on the well-known practice of renting designer handbags, a status symbol often flaunted by celebrities.

Bulté explained.
The rental trend, which has been gaining traction in the UAE over the past two to three years, emerged from a customer study conducted across the GCC. The research revealed that luxury consumers were increasingly open to both purchasing and renting high-end items. This insight led to the creation of a platform that caters to this demand, providing customers with flexible and stylish options for their table settings.
Bulté emphasized that this service not only offers elegance but also aligns with sustainability goals. Customers can choose from a variety of table settings, ranging from formal and classic to modern and minimalistic. Options include heritage table settings with classical dinner plates and crystalware, as well as contemporary designs featuring simple colors and clean lines.
The rental service allows for customization according to different dinner themes, giving organizers the flexibility to enhance their events with luxurious yet eco-friendly table settings. Bulté sees this initiative as a significant step towards promoting sustainability while maintaining the joy of indulging in high-quality, elegant tableware.
