Dubai Design Week will return to Dubai Design District (d3) from November 3 to 8, marking the 12th edition of the region’s leading design festival.
This year’s edition focuses on the role design can play in strengthening connection at a time when the ways people interact, work and communicate are being reshaped. Projects will explore the experiences, encounters and relationships that form around design, from the spaces people gather in and the languages they use to the objects, materials and systems that shape everyday life.
The multidisciplinary programme includes exhibitions, commissions, installations, talks, workshops and public activations. It spans architecture, design, craft, technology and material experimentation.
The festival is held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture). It is presented in strategic partnership with d3, part of TECOM Group, and supported by Dubai Culture.
Khadija Al Bastaki, Senior Vice President of d3, said the partnership continues to nurture and champion creativity, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global hub for design excellence in line with Design Sector Strategy 2033.
Shaima Rashed Al Suwaidi, CEO of the Arts, Design and Literature Sector at Dubai Culture, said the festival connects UAE designers with practitioners and audiences worldwide. She noted that Dubai is the first city in the Middle East designated a UNESCO Creative City of Design, and said the support helps emerging talent build capabilities and reach wider audiences.
Natasha Carella, Director for Dubai Design Week, said design influences how people live, how cities function and how communities respond to change. She added that bringing different perspectives into conversation is essential, because no single discipline can address these questions alone.
