Dubai will once again step into the global gaming spotlight as the Dubai Esports and Games Festival returns from 8 to 24 May 2026, marking its fifth and most ambitious edition to date with an expanded citywide programme designed to engage gamers, families and industry leaders alike.

Organised by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, part of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, the festival has grown rapidly since launching in 2022, evolving into a major international platform for esports, gaming and digital innovation. The 2025 edition attracted more than 45,000 attendees across 12 events held over 17 days, underscoring its rising global profile.

Aligned with the goals of Dubai Economic Agenda D33, DEF 2026 aims to strengthen Dubai’s position as a global hub for gaming by attracting investment, nurturing local talent and supporting the broader digital economy. Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, said the festival reflects Dubai’s long-term ambition to accelerate growth in gaming and esports while empowering the next generation of creators.

This year’s edition places stronger emphasis on youth engagement and multi-generational participation in line with the UAE’s Year of the Family. Returning highlights include GameExpo, GameExpo Summit powered by PG Connects, Play Beyond and the Dubai Cosplay Championship, alongside new interactive experiences tailored for families, students and creators.

The flagship GameExpo will take place from 22 to 24 May at Dubai World Trade Centre, featuring more than 100 gaming consoles, live tournaments and immersive zones including Neo Tokyo District, Battle Arena and Velocity Garage. A dedicated creative marketplace, The Narrows, supported by Dubai Culture, will spotlight homegrown artists and designers.

New for 2026 is a collaboration with LEGO Certified Stores, introducing interactive build zones that expand the festival’s appeal to families and younger audiences.

Registration is now open for participants, schools, vendors and industry professionals, with further programme announcements expected in the lead-up to the festival.
