Dubai has established the Dubai Civility Committee, a new body tasked with strengthening the city’s urban identity and visual appeal in line with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.
The move follows the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and was formalised through a Resolution issued by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.
Chaired by Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, the Committee brings together senior leaders including the Chairman of the Supreme Committee of Urban Planning as Vice Chairman, alongside representatives from The Executive Council, Dubai Police, the Crown Prince’s Office, Dubai Municipality, and the Department of Economy and Tourism.
The Committee’s mandate covers enhancing Dubai’s visual identity, addressing urban elements that detract from the city’s aesthetics, and developing strategies to preserve its architectural character. It will also monitor implementation, assess outcomes, and set performance indicators to ensure progress and public satisfaction.
Advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, will be used to detect and manage emerging urban challenges. The Committee will also establish subcommittees, allocate resources, and coordinate with relevant authorities to ensure the success of its initiatives.
All government entities involved in shaping Dubai’s urban landscape are required to support the Committee by sharing data, reports, and studies to guide policy development and informed decision-making.
The creation of the Dubai Civility Committee underscores the city’s ambition to position itself as a global benchmark for beauty, harmony, and modern urban living.
